The primary Vintage Set
I did my first pin curl set with my new middy lower, and boy was I nervous. It was a bit harder making extensive pin curls with such quick hair (vast, as a result of I did not need to appear to be Shirley Temple when it was dry.) Ready for it to dry was so arduous, and I was scared it might turn out weird the first time.
My major inspiration for why I wanted a middy lower in the first place and how I wanted to style my comes from Super Kawaii Mama. If you haven’t seen her variations of a middy haircut, you actually should click on on the link. She makes it look so incredibly easy. *sigh*
So, without further adieu…my awesome middy!!!!
I know, it’s like you can’t miss a vintage fashion with this cut! I am not at all great at pin curls or at combing out units, but it’s like even I couldn’t mess it up.
I followed Super Kawaii basic tips for setting a middy, rolling the curls down and using two fingers to make for wider curls. She has an awesome video on youtube with it, by the way. And the perfect part with ava gabor wigs this lower is that it took hardly ava gabor wigs any time to dry, like an hour or two!
Then I just combed it out with a comb and played with it until I liked what I saw. I did tease a bit on the crown for a bit more height and volume on high. It still only took about 10 minutes to set it this morning and about five to ten to fashion at most. I did finish with hairspray and these pictures had been taken at the top of a day of homeschooling, diaper changing, ballet class, and errand running all with a lot of little ones grabbing hair, wind blowing it, and in and out of cars. I believe it held up really well.
Oh, and that i wore a a vintage sweater for the primary time that I had been repairing and restoring. It is a gorgeous cream colour with copper and gold beading throughout it. I needed to re-sew some beads and sew up a number of holes, but sadly can see from the picture that I need to stitch down a few of the lining around the entrance.

Overall, I am very surprised at how much I like this hair lower, and much more shocked how much my husband likes it. It is like so many vintage kinds appear all of the sudden attainable. Although it’s a big commitment and a bit on the short facet from my regular lengths, I believe it’ll grow out beautifully, and I am very tempted to keep up this length for some time. And I am quite sure you can be seeing more variations with my new middy here on the blog.
